This is an entry level scope that is highly recommended for anyone who is taking their first steps into astronomy. Given the lack of any computerized feature and or finderscope, it really makes the newcomer adjust and learn how to find objects using a reflector telescope with and without an eyepiece.
The telescope is mounted on a Dobsonian mount – a variation on an alt-azimuth mount. This makes it a bit too easy to move the telescope off alignment on an object, but you can’t expect a top-grade mount on a beginner telescope.
Moving the ‘scope manually isn’t too big of a problem but is a bit tedious just because it isn’t computerized. The low price point makes it a good starter ‘scope for someone starting out in astronomy or who has kids who may just have a passing interest in the subject. You can always upgrade to a better telescope later if you really get into the subject.
