The International Observe The Moon Night is an annual event designed to get astronomers and the public to look at, appreciate and gain some understanding of the Moon.
Everyone on the planet is invited to take part.
The Moon is the only astronomical body in the sky on which you can see details with the naked eye. Using even a small pair of binoculars will show many more features on the Moon. Those with telescopes are in the best position as these can give extremely close-up views of particular features.
While telescopes are owned by amateur astronomers and observatories, many astronomy clubs and societies and some observatories may be running public nights for Observe The Moon Night. Check your local listings to see if there’s an event in your area.
If you’re interested in running your own event and/or registering and evaluate your InOMN event, or you want to see if there’s an InOMN event in your area, check out the official International Observe The Moon Night Website. They also have a Facebook page.
LunarPhase Pro InOMN Special Offer
To celebrate International Observe The Moon Night, I’m offering a $10 discount on my LunarPhase Pro software which is a software tool (for Windows) I’ve created that provides a ton of information about the Moon, from lunar phases to the Moon’s rise and set times and much, much more. The software includes an interactive Moon Atlas so you can get to know the features on the Moon and a telescope emulator (for those cloudy nights). You’ll also learn a lot more about the Moon by using the software. There’s too many features to list here but you can see the full feature on this page.
The $10 discount is equivalent to a 25% discount on the digital download version and a 20% discount on the CD version.
This Firesale will run for 36 hours only and will run from midnight (GMT) September 18th (tonight) to mid-day (GMT) on September 20th (Sunday). That’s 7pm EST, 18 Sept. 2015 to 7am, 20 Sept. 2015. If you’re in another timezone, adjust the times for where you live.
