San Diego’s ideal year-round weather and beautiful beaches have made it a top tourist destination in California for many years. However there is more than perfect sunshine and surf to this southern California city. Here are some of the best tourist attractions to check out next time you visit San Diego.
Balboa Park
The legendary Balboa Park is a must see for anyone visiting San Diego. It is an urban cultural center that spans 1,200 acres and is situated just a few short minutes away from Downtown. It has ten world famous museums that have incredible art and science exhibits, and also nine botanical gardens, the San Diego Zoo, an outdoor playhouse, and a range of restaurants and shops.
Torrey Pines State Reserve
For the hiking aficionado out there, keep in mind to check out the Torrey Pines State Reserve. It is a beautiful state part that is home to a wide range of animal and plant wildlife that includes the rare Torrey Pine. The hike is not too complicated, so everyone, from beginner to experienced outdoorsmen can enjoy it, and the trek rewards you with some of the most impressive views of the coastline you’ll ever see.
San Diego Harbor
At the Harbor, you’ll find out about San Diego Maritime Museum, which comprises four different historic sea vessels, such as a Cold War era Soviet submarine and two well-known sail ships: The Star of India and the “HMS Surpriseâ€, an 18th Century English Frigate that was featured in the film Master and commander. You can also take a Harbor Cruise and enjoy the sight the city from the water.
SeaWorld
Here is one of the greatest San Diego tourist information tips: Seaworld is always a lot of fun for the whole family. Adults and kids will both love the animal shows and the big aquariums that are purely eye-candy. You can also enjoy thrilling water rides and roller coasters, play with the dolphins and watch few of the most spectacular sea animal shows everywhere.
The Gaslamp District
Nothing helps you de-stress better than a good night of drinking and dancing in the city. If you feel up for it, head over to the Historic Gaslamp District, which is located in the heart of Downtown. You’ll discover few of the best bars and dance clubs in the city and also top notch live music shows, all inside walking distance of each other.
