LunarPhase Pro Version 3 Read Review 1 Read Review 2 Read Review 3

LunarPhase Pro (Version 3.30 released May 12th, 2009) is a Moon observer's software toolkit (for Win 98/NT/ME/2000/XP) which provides real-time moon and sun information, along with a wide range of observation planning tools. It also contains a database of over 9, 200 lunar features (which can be searched) and an interactive Moon atlas which allows you to identify features on the moon's near-side, far-side and North & South polar regions. The maps also contain Rukl chart outlines and lists on features on eah Rukl map. Views through your own eyepieces/telescopes can be emulated and you can find out when particular features appear under similar illumination on furure dates. A real-time list of features currently along the lunar terminator is also included.

LunarPhase V2.70
LunarPhase is a cut-down Shareware version of LunarPhase Pro for those who don't want the advanced observing tools. It also does not contain the interactive Moon Atlas. The software does provide rising, transit and setting times for both the Sun and Moon, start and end times for Civil, Nautical and Astronomical twilight and a range of information on the Moon and, to a lesser degree, the Sun, graphically displaying the current phase of the moon (in real time), its age, percentage illuminated, distance, position and the times and dates of the major lunar phases for the selected month and year. It also provides Lunar Eclipse information and a number of observing tools. An inbuilt database of over 2, 000 features is included. Comes with a 20-day trial period. For more information (and screenshots) and to download the application, see the LunarPhase Page.

LunarPhase Lite
LunarPhase Lite is the most basic version of the software, and is of use to photographers, fishermen, gardeners, military and stockbrokers - in fact anyone who just needs a basic application to give moon and sun rise/set times, times of twilight, current phase and times and dates of major phases for the month. Also includes a Daily View diagram which shows the positions of the Moon and Sun in the sky during the selected day. For more information (and screenshots), see the LunarPhase Lite Page.

JupSat Pro
This program calculates the positions of and displays side-on and plan views of Jupiter and its satellites (for four optical configurations), along with the Longitude of Jupiter's Central Meridian for both equatorial (System I) and non-equatorial (System II) zones. It also graphically displays the position of the Great Red Spot and shadow transits of the satellites, monthly satellite tracks, Great Red Spot transit times and times of mutual satellite phenomena and allows animation. Online documentation is included.

(Downloads) Deepsky Imaging

10 Mar 2009 at 12:01pm  May 24, 2009 - New Version 1.2.2 - Now adds AVI video capture in addition to TIF capture.

NEW: Added AVI Capture to the capture as its own tab. Now you can capture to a raw AVI file which is the preferred method for solar system imaging. Watch out for disk space though as it gets eaten up quick!

NEW: Added the ability to specify the path to where your captures get stored. It still defaults to the MyCaptureVideo folder but now you can change that in preferences

NEW: Added Batch Image Cleanup to the FILE menu. This lets you apply leveling, deinterlacing, and hot pixel removal in a batch process by specifying an input and output folder. A lot faster than doing it one at a time.

NEW: Added a stopwatch to the video capture screen for manual timings

BUG: Opening images in Windows Vista was painfully slow. This has been corrected.

BUG: Fixed capture settings bug that would give an error when clicking OK in the settings screen.

BUG: When using a custom capture size, the size shown in the preview window sometimes would not display at the specified size.

PHD Guiding

PHD Guiding is designed to be "Push Here Dummy" simple, yet provide powerful, intelligent auto-guiding of your telescope for both PCs and Macs. Connect your mount, your camera, select a star, and start guiding. Voted the best software for guiding in the 2007 AstroPhoto Insight survey. [Free]

DSLR Shutter

DSLR Shutter is designed to be a simple tool to capture long-exposure images from digital SLR cameras using their "bulb" setting. It allows you to specify the number of frames, their duration, and various delays to act as a software interval timer for your camera. [Free]

Nebulosity

Nebulosity (Windows and OS X) is designed to be a powerful, but simple to use capture and processing application for a wide range of astronomy CCD cameras. Many cameras are supported for capture and images from just about anything can be processed (support for many FITS formats, PNG, TIFF, JPEG, CR2/CRW, etc). Its goal is to suit people ranging from the novice imager who wants to create their first images to the advanced imager who wants a convenient, flexible capture application for use in the field. In it, you get a host of purpose-built, powerful tools to make the most out of your images (e.g., Digital Development Processing, traditional alignment/stacking (equatorial and alt-az), Drizzle alignment/stacking, Bad Pixel Mapping, LRGB tools, real-time tricolor histograms for color balancing, star tightening via edge detection, adaptive scaling of stacks, Canon CR2/CRW RAW Bayer matrix loading, 32/96-bit accuracy, etc.) [Free]

WCS

WCS helps you to polar align your mount using the drift alignment method with CCD or webcam support. It supports any camera which can be installed as a Windows device (Meade LPI, ToUcam, NexImage, etc). There's also a version available for the Meade DSI cameras. The error in polar azimuth and polar elevation can be adjusted very quickly, even if Polaris is not visible (e.g. obstructing trees, buildings, or if observing in the southern hemisphere). The idea is to measure the star drift of an inaccurately aligned mount using a webcam, and to calculate the amount of polar axis misalignment. After that, it assists you in achieving near-perfect mount alignment using the webcam display. With WCS, the effort needed for alignment is reduced to a minimum, and you have more time for observing and imaging. [Free Trial]

PEMPro

With PEMPro Version 2 you can now correct your mounts periodic error, polar alignment and backlash using your CCD Camera or Webcam to dramatically improve tracking and guiding. [Free Trial]

Images PLUS

The premier program for DSLR camera control, image acquisition, calibration, alignment, stacking, processing and enhancing astrophotographs. If you can only afford one program, this is the one to get. Images Plus will not only control all of your camera's functions through your computer, it will also help you focus your camera. Once you have acquired your images, it will calibrate and align them with a couple of clicks of your mouse. Then you can use it to apply advanced image correction and enhancement techniques such as digital development and deconvolution.

IRIS

Iris offers numerous and powerful functions for image processing of digital astronomical images. It is particularly optimized to exploit the images that come from CCD or DSLR cameras. Iris can load and save images in the formats FITS, PIC (proprietary format), raw or BMP. [Free]

The viewer has easy to use graphical controls and will display astronomical images in the Flexible Image Transport System (FITS) format (as saved by some CCD cameras) allowing zooming, scrolling, modifying the brightness, contrast and pseudo color and allow determination of celestial positions and the physical brightness units in the image. Both standard World Coordinate System (WCS) and Digitized Sky Survey (DSS) coordinates are supported. Positions and brightnesses of selected pixels may be logged to a text file and specified positions in the image may be marked. Images may be compared by "blinking" them and 3 dimensional images may be viewed a plane at a time or in the form of a movie. Blanked pixels and all defined FITS image data types are supported.
